Amit Shilton
With more than a decade in Canada’s largest newsrooms, Amit brings a journalist’s instinct and a strategist’s eye to helping brands cut through today’s fractured media landscape. He knows how to craft a compelling narrative – and how to make sure it reaches the audiences that matter most.
As Agnostic’s lead on AI innovation, Amit is passionate about exploring how new technologies can sharpen storytelling and make communications smarter, faster, and more effective.
Before joining Agnostic, he led communications for one of Canada’s largest hospital networks during the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier, Amit spent more than a decade in senior editorial roles at Canada’s top news organizations. At the Toronto Star, he served as Toronto Editor and Breaking News Editor, leading coverage of some of the country’s most defining moments. He also held roles at The Globe and Mail, The Canadian Press and the National Post, where he honed his ability to translate complex issues into stories that resonate – a skill he continues to bring to his work with clients today.
Away from work, Amit can often be found in the kitchen making pizza or churning ice cream. When he’s not experimenting with dough or flavours, he’s usually in the garden fending off squirrels from his tomato plants — or enjoying the unpredictable fun that comes with raising a young daughter.
